How to Update Google Business Hours for Multiple Locations at Once
Wrong opening hours are one of the fastest ways to lose a customer's trust. If you run more than one location, updating them one by one is slow and error-prone. Here's how to do it in bulk.
Regular hours vs special hours
- Regular hours: your usual weekly schedule.
- Special hours: date-specific overrides for holidays, events, inventory days or temporary closures. After the date passes, Google shows your regular hours again.
For holidays, always use special hours rather than changing your regular schedule, so you don't forget to switch it back.
Option 1: Google Business Profile Manager on a computer
- Sign in to Google Business Profile Manager with the account that manages your locations.
- In the locations list, tick the checkbox next to each location you want to update (or use a location group).
- Open the bulk actions menu and choose to edit hours or special hours.
- Enter the new hours and save. Changes can take a little while to appear on Google.
This works well at a desk but is awkward on a phone.
Option 2: From your phone with Business Profile for Google
- Open Business Profile for Google and go to Locations.
- Tap Select, then tick the locations you want to change (or Select all).
- Tap Bulk edit and choose regular hours or special hours.
- Set the days and times and apply. The app updates each location through Google's official API.
Checklist before a holiday
- Set special hours for every location that is closed or open shorter.
- Double-check locations in different time zones.
- Publish a Google post announcing your holiday hours.
- Check your profile on Google Maps afterwards to confirm the hours show correctly.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between regular hours and special hours?
Regular hours are your normal weekly schedule. Special hours override them for specific dates such as public holidays, events or temporary closures, and then your regular hours return automatically.
Can I bulk edit hours in Google Business Profile?
Yes. If you manage several locations you can select multiple locations in Google's Business Profile Manager on a computer and edit hours for all of them, or use an app that supports bulk editing.
When should I set holiday hours?
A few days to a week before the holiday, so customers searching ahead of time see the correct hours.
